Boston ranks 3rd in the United States for high rent
The median rents for one and two-bedrooms homes in the United States are up 2.1 percent and 2.2 percent, respectively, according to a report the *Zumper real estate site released Monday.
And Boston is among the priciest, ranking behind only San Francisco and New York. The cost to rent a one-bedroom unit here grew 0.4 percent to $2,510, pushing the city up one spot in the rankings. The price of a two-bedroom in Boston didn’t budge ($2,900).
The top 10 most expensive cities are below, according to the report.

2. New York, New York
3. Boston, Massachusetts
4. Oakland, California
5. San Jose, California
6. Washington D.C.
7. Los Angeles, California
8. Seattle, Washington
9. San Diego, California
10. Anaheim, California and Miami, Florida
One other New England city made the top of the list: Providence, R.I., ranked 16th, with a median rent of $1,550.
